Pilotage is compulsory for all vessels over 35 metres in length, except for government owned and military vessels. This includes pleasure and fishing vessels, as well as commercial vessels. The book is very insteresting and detailed. It is the first book I read about the Normandie harbours and I realized how difficult the task was.

I would say however that it is a book for engineers and its details are very interesting from that point of view but not from a military point of view.

Only the last chapter considers that aspect/5(6). As with all of the Pitkin guides this isn't a book. It's more of a pamphlet. But, a very well done pamphlet. If you have any interest or curiosity about the Mulberry harbors off Normandy in this is defintely worth a couple of bucks.

The only down side is that the photography and the text are so interesting that you wish there was more.4/5(10).
